Dear folks waiting for the Ankeny Briefcase
The project is moving along swimmingly...our final roster of stories has been selected, the authors have been contacted, and we've got some great creative ideas that will make each copy unique.  We really think you'll enjoy the final product, and we're itching for December 1st.

For all of you who submitted stories over the past two years, we will be responding to you each individually.  Some of the stories that didn't make the first cut will be held for the next issue (with author's permission, of course), and most have been passed on.  For everyone who submitted a story, thank you so much for trusting us with your work.  We hope you'll keep submitting further writings to The Ankeny Briefcase.

Here's what we're working on right now besides the actual book:

1. A new submission site very similar to ReliefJournal.com's.  The new process will be much, much easier.

2. Replying to everyone who submitted a story.

Here are a few more comments regarding Ankeny's content:

1. We're including a selection of "Bits of Life" from Burnside Writer's Collective contributor, Aaron Donley.

2. Burnside regular Chad Gibbs has an awesome story that you will not want to miss.

3. All of our authors are fantastic, but we assure you that Carlos Delgado will be one of the great writers of our time, and you'll want to have a copy of his first published works.

For folks expecting a Guidepost-like collection of uplifting morality tales, you’ll be in for a surprise.  The Ankeny Briefcase was formed with one thought in mind: good literature.  While many of our authors are Christian, and while some pieces have spiritual themes, these stories were selected for their merit.

Lastly, we had hoped from the first days to include a CD of unsigned musicians, but that dream has not worked out.  To all of you who sent music over the last two years, thank you sincerely.  We hope to someday have a music compilation, but it just wasn’t going to fit this time around.

Sincerely,
Jordan Green
